Veggies!

We've started harvesting vegetables from our garden. So far we are up to 18 yellow squash, 4 zucchini, 2 okra, 3 beets, 1 green pepper and some spinach and lettuce. We would have more okra if it weren't for the darn ants eating them. We also have a problem with catepillars eating our broccoli and tomatoes. We caught two very big catepillar killers on Saturday. They were executed at 1:45 pm by a shovel handled by Andrew for eating our tomatoes. It left a very green and gooey mess. We dug up another garden where we planted sweet banana pepper and salsa peppers and some more okra and squash.

  1. Your produce looks yummmmy ... homegrown beets are the best!

The catepillar is HUGE ... have you considered taking one to the county extension office or to a nursery to find out what it is? Curious.

My radishes looked great . . . nice green tops . . . but produced no radishes, just tops. So I pulled them all out and will replant in late September or early October. I have decided I need another raised veggie bed for next year!

Is Andrew going to post pictures of his trip to Virginia?

Thanks for posting! Love reading your and Andrew's blog.

  2. P.S. Love your flowers, too. Did you plant the rose bush? The flowers along the drive . . . dianthis? (sp?) Just noticed your hanging pot . . . can you post a picture of it, too?

  4. I forgot to ask you about Frank and Scarlet . . . any babies yet? Our morning doves are still sitting in the former blue jay nest . . . she's been there since June 10th. Should see babies soon.
