Nov 2015

Meme & Papa came to visit on Emma's birthday and stayed through Thanksgiving.  To celebrate Emma's birthday we opened presents and had chocolate cake.  Emma loved opening her presents and playing with her new kitchen set.  Unfortunately Emma was sick all week so when it was time to sing "Happy Birthday" and bring her the cake, she just cried and didn't want to eat any of it, so she got to go to bed and we all enjoyed some cake.  We walked through the Tinsel Trail in Big Springs Park while Meme & Papa were here and enjoyed all the lit up Christmas Trees and music.  We also went to the tree farm and picked out our Christmas tree.  Emma enjoyed helping Andrew cut the tree down and help me decorate it.  She helped me put all the non breakable ornaments on the bottom of the tree and surprisingly hasn't touched it since.  She also helped me put up my nativity set and added some of her animals to it.  Meme & Papa got her a train to go around the bottom of our tree which she loves and wants to turn on every day.  Every morning we have to turn on the tree lights and the train.  She loved having Meme & Papa here and coloring on Meme's phone and walking in Papa's shoes.

October 2015

Grandma & grandpa came for a visit Oct 9-18 and we had a good time hanging out.  We went to Lyon Family Farms the first Saturday they were here and enjoyed the beautiful day.  Emma loved playing in the corn crib, crawling through a metal tunnel, climbing hay bales and watching pig races.  We went for a tractor ride to pick out our pumpkin.  Emma wanted to sit on all of the pumpkins and then hugged the pumpkin we picked out.  Grandma and her decorated her pumpkin with stickers.  The following Saturday we celebrated my birthday.  Emma unfortunately got sick with Croup on Friday but was feeling a little better by Saturday.  We got ice cream at Maggie Moos, walked around Bridgestreet and picked up sub sandwiches to eat at the park. We then let Emma play on the playground.  Emma was supergirl for Halloween this year.  Thursday night we took her to the library for a puppet show and trick or treating.  Friday she went to my nursing home with me and enjoyed visiting all the residents, playing balloon with some of our patients and playing with the balls in our therapy department. Saturday, Halloween, we went to a fall festival where she loved bouncing and crawling around in the bounce house and playing games.  Her favorite thing to do this month has been to play outside on her slide and swing.

Aug & Sep 2015

The end of August and beginning of September we got to go home to Lincoln for 10 days.  We decided to drive through the night, there and back so that Emma would sleep.  She did sleep except for when we had to stop for gas and then she was wide awake for the next couple hours, but it was still better than driving during the day.  We had a great time visiting with family and Emma loved being around everyone.  We went to the Lincoln Children's Zoo twice while home.  Emma enjoyed watching the camels & penguins and got to pet a rabbit, chicken and hedgehog.  We were able to tell our parents and siblings while home that baby Hiatt #2 is on the way and will arrive May 5, 2016.

July 2015

4th of July

Cow Appreciation Day

Beach Trip

Loves playing in her water table.  Emma gets her shoes & points out the window when she wants to play in it.
July was a fun month.  We dressed up like cows to get free food at Chick-fil-A for cow appreciation day.  Emma loved watching all the people and the cows and enjoyed her kids meal.  Dustin, Heather, Tessa, Daniel, Ken & Arlene came to visit the middle of July and we all drove to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the weekend.  We stayed at a house a couple blocks from the beach and walked to the beach every morning and evening.  In the mornings we saw dolphins in the distance and a jellyfish after Daniel & Dustin unfortunately got stung.  Emma loved sitting in the sand and getting splashed by the waves and playing with the sand and seashells.  She had fun playing with Daniel & Tessa.  Ken & Arlene stayed the week after we got back from the beach so we had fun hanging out.  We went to the art walk in downtown Huntsville and enjoyed pizza & music afterwards.  Another night we got ice cream at Bridgestreet and walked around the pond.  We enjoyed having family here & was sad when everyone left!

The beginning of June grandma & grandpa came for a visit.  Emma had lots of fun with them.  One night we went to a concert in the park where Emma loved listening to music and got a balloon animal.  We also went to the Art Walk downtown where we looked at local artists booths and then walked around Big Springs Park.  We took grandma to story time at the library and grandpa had fun mowing the yard on our new riding lawn mower.  This month Emma has enjoyed being outside and playing in the pool or her water table.  She gets her sandals and points at the door when she wants to go outside.  Emma has been learning a lot of signs lately to communicate.  Her favorite signs are cat, dog, eat, and fan.  She went to playgroup at therapy and had fun climbing the stairs and going down the slide on the playground.  Her friend Lilly and her like to babble at each other and play together on Tues & Thurs.  Emma is getting better at walking holding our hands and cruising around the house.  She loves to put things together and take them apart.  Our garden has been doing well.  We grew corn for the first time and have been harvesting it.  We have also been picking green beans, tomatoes, broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash and blueberries.
