Emma's second month

We traveled to Lincoln for Emma's first Christmas and stayed for two weeks so all of the family could meet her and spend time with her.  She was a great traveler and I told her she is going to have to get used to it because there will be many more trips in her future!

Emma's first month

We took Emma home from the hospital on Friday Nov 15th.  The cats were very curious about her, sniffing and looking at her as she slept.  Meme and Papa stayed with us for a week and then grandma and grandpa came to visit for a week over Thanksgiving.  After Thanksgiving we went to the tree farm to get Emma's first Christmas tree.

Emma arrived on Wednesday Nov 13, 2013 at 4:18 pm at Madison Hospital.  I started having contractions Saturday night Nov 9 but they were irregular until Tuesday around 4 pm after I got home from work.  I called Andrew to come home from school and we waited until 7 pm to leave for the hospital when they were about 5 mins apart.  I was only dilated to 2.5 cm so they observed me a couple hours while I dilated to 3 cm when they admitted me.  By 3 am I was dilated to 6 cm and got an epidural, around 7 am I was dilated to 9 cm.  We then had to wait for Emma to descend further down to begin pushing.  Around 1:30 pm I began pushing and pushed for over 2 hrs until I couldn't push anymore.  We waited for the Dr to come and he used the vacuum to deliver Emma at 4:18 pm, what a relief!  She was a beautiful, healthy, & happy baby weighing 7 lbs 0 oz and 19.5 inches long.
