Grandpa's visit to Alabama
Grandpa and mom came to visit Oct 11-15. We had a great time together and great weather. Saturday we we walked through the botanical gardens and looked at all the scarecrows. That night we made a fire in our fire-pit and ate smores. Sunday we went to church and the US Space & Rocket Center. Grandpa really seemed to enjoy having Andrew as his tour guide and gave the gift shop a lot of business!

Baby Showers
We were blessed by two baby showers while we were in Lincoln. Teresa and mom gave us a shower on Sat Aug 31st for lunch and Heather and Arlene had a shower for us on Sat Sept 7 for brunch. It was great spending time with family and friends. We were thankful to drive home with a car full of goodies for baby!

Nursery
We painted the green office to make it into a nursery. First we painted all the walls a light gray, then we added a tinted glaze to the wall behind the crib. We painted all the trim, doors and closet white. We then taped out the shape of the trees and painted them white, adding gray markings for the bark. Removing all the painters tape and seeing our finished project was the best part! It was worth all the hard work! We assembled the crib and dresser, repainted the old curtain rod and added pink balls to the end and hung the curtains, and lastly put pink bird decals in the trees. Now, the only thing left to do is add some decorations to the walls behind the dresser.

22 week Ultrasound
We had the last ultrasound today before baby is born. We got an extra one because at the last one the tech was unable to see all four chambers of the heart. They said everything looked good! You could tell she has grown bigger and I can feel that she has grown, with the kicking and moving becoming stronger. She is now around 1 lb and can perceive light and dark, is developing her sense of touch and can hear our voices.

It's a girl!
June 27th, we had an ultrasound and found out we are having a girl. She was 11.5 ounces and very active, moving around her legs and arms, probably thanks to the coke and hershey bar I ate before going in. It was fun seeing her heart beating, her ribs, bones in her legs and arms, brain, and kidneys. Everything looked good and healthy. We get to go back on July 18th for another ultrasound because she wasn't in the right position to see all four chambers of her heart, yeah- another chance to see her!

Garden 2013
Our first blueberries |
Our garden has done very well so far this year. We have produced broccoli, lettuce, beets, green beans, cucumbers, zucchini and yellow squash. We have been eating veggies every night, plus we have more than we know what to do with, so I have been bringing in a lot to work. This is the first year our blueberry bushes have produced and they are yummy! We still have tomatoes, peppers, spaghetti squash and butternut squash on the way

Riviera Maya Vacation
June 4-10 Andrew & I vacationed in the Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe. It was wonderful! It was forecasted to rain the whole week but luckily it only rained the first two days with some dry spots in the afternoon. We enjoyed just walking around the resort and enjoying the scenery and wildlife. There were tons of iguanas, beautiful birds that would not stay put for a picture, and a ring tailed coati that I was able to sneak up on to get a picture. We saw a sea turtle off the pier, numerous fish and crabs and enjoyed watching the pelicans hunt for fish We spent our days there going to breakfast, swimming in the pool, going to lunch, swimming in the Caribbean, laying on the beach, enjoying delicious suppers and watching a show at night. Swimming and eating pretty much sums it up! We ate at a different restaurant every night. Our favorite two were the French and Seafood Restaurant. Best food I've ever tasted! Andrew ordered some new foods we had never had and then I tried them. I wasn't brave enough to order them for myself. We tried Octopus, Swordfish, and Escargot(cooked snails)- which really freaked me out to watch him dig them out of the shells but they were delicious!
We played mini-golf one afternoon |
